Who handles your data

What we store in your account
Account details: your email address, the name you enter, and your password, which our account system stores as a hash; not even we can see it.
Saved designs: when you choose a design, we save which name it is for, the design of the chosen signature (font, flourish, layout) and a simplified copy of your old signature's strokes, so your signatures and the before & after card stay available.
What stays on your device only
Scoring your old signature runs on your device; we don't send the strokes anywhere to score them. Your practice, daily streak, settings and designs you haven't unlocked stay in your device's storage.
Anonymous usage data
To improve the app we record which screens and buttons are used (for example: quiz started, share sheet opened), the language, the page path, a session ID, and where the visit came from (for example the referring site and the campaign tag of the link, such as “tiktok”). This data holds no name and no signature. These events are not linked to your account. The iPhone app does not record them.
AI designer
When you are signed in, two features use AI: celeb signatures and the style suggestion. The name you type and your quiz answers are then sent to OpenAI (for the celeb signature picture) and to Anthropic (for the style suggestion and for checking the finished picture). They don't get your email address. In the iPhone and Android apps this only happens once you allow it the first time; guest use never sends this. The finished celeb signature is kept in your account so you can find it later; the style suggestion text is not stored.
Who helps us run Calligra
Supabase: accounts and database. Vercel: serving the website and the app. OpenAI: the celeb signature pictures. Anthropic: the style suggestion and checking the celeb signatures. Resend: sending our e-mails. Our e-mails contain an invisible tracking image that shows when you open them; of this we keep only the fact and time of the opening and your mail provider's domain (for example gmail.com), to see whether our e-mails reach the inbox. Each receives only what its job needs.
What you share
You share the before & after card and video only if you choose to. Cards carry a faint protective pattern over the signature by default, so nobody can crop a clean copy from a post. More on the Security page.
What we use it for, and what not
We use your data to sign you in, design your signatures, keep them in your account and improve the app. We never sell it and never use it for advertising. We only show someone's signature in our posts with explicit permission.
How long we keep it
Account data for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, your saved names and designs are permanently erased.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your data, its correction or deletion, restriction of its processing, and you can object to it. You can delete your account immediately on the Account page. If you feel your rights have been breached, you can complain to the data protection authority where you live.
